The Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Prada, met with the Ombudsman, Carlos Camargo, to coordinate and articulate actions for prevention and rapid response to early warnings that guarantee human rights. Also, the Unified Command Post for Life (PMUV), which seeks the protection of the country’s social leaders, was explained.
The head of the political portfolio stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in order to achieve total peace in the country. “We have indicated a working route, an action plan to set up permanent roundtables for dialogue but above all else, a presence in the territory. The Office of the Ombudsman joins us in the installation of unified command posts, where we coordinate the activity of all national, departmental, and regional institutions in the protection of life for social leaders and communities affected by regional conflicts,” said Prada Gil.
The meeting identified priorities for work and defined the most effective strategies for the protection of communities, social leaders and human rights defenders. “We have made a working agenda to respond to the concerns of Colombians, to ensure the security of Colombians,” said the head of the Interior Ministry.
For his part, the Ombudsman, Carlos Camargo, stated that “the implementation of decree 660 to better safeguard communities and guarantee their rights through the collective protection mechanism will be fundamental to achieve greater effectiveness of State action.”
