Delegates from the Ministry of the Interior will attend the public hearing that will take place today, Monday, August 13, from 10 in the morning, in the Indigenous Reservation of Guadualito, North of Cauca.
The hearing has been convened by the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (CRIC), before “the serious acts of violence that are being presented” in that Department.
The indigenous community of the area has denounced the murder of social leaders and a growing campaign of threats against its population.
Given the seriousness of the facts and by order of the Minister of the Interior, Nancy Patricia Gutiérrez, officials from the Human Rights Directorate and a delegate of the Directorate of Indigenous Affairs of Ministry of the Interior will attend the meeting.
The Minister of Government gives priority to these cases and has instructed its delegates to give all the attention to address the serious complaints.
Among the organizations invited by the CRIC, to this public audience includes delegates from the UN, the OAS, the Regional Ombudsman's Office, the Regional Procurator's Office and the Departmental Government Secretariat.
