“La Giralda”, from War Ministry in the 19th Century to Office of the Ministry of Interior.
This beautiful colonial house, totally restored, has been since 20 March 2012, the new venue of the Ministry of Interior. The facilities were inaugurated en an event that included President Juan Manuel Manuel Santos Calderón as one of the guests.
“This is a privileged site located next to the Congress and the Palacio de Nariño”, affirmed President Juan Manuel Santos.
The new venue of the Ministry of Interior is a building that dates back to 1850, where Ministry of War operated until 1948. Then, its offices became classrooms for the Maria Inmaculada School and other education institutions.
In 1977 this beautiful colonial construction was acquired by the Cultural Coffee Fund (Fondo Cultural Cafetero), which opened a Museum on site known as “La Giralda”, which operated until a few months ago when it was acquired by the Ministry of the Interior.
